Undersound II is the follow-up to the
Undersound (CD LR 295)
released in
September 2000 after a long tour of the trio much to the critical acclaim.
Undersound II promotes the same musical concept as the first CD: undersound
is synonymous to the understatement. The difference is that on one track
there is a guest appearance of the violinist Malcolm Goldstein. On this
recording Dominic Duval (bass), Joe Mcphee (tenor, soprano saxophones) and
John Heward (drums, percussion) achieve even a higher level of togetherness
in bringing out their concept.
The word is "under sound", meaning what?
The basis for this work rests in the mind of my friend John Heward.
A reading of John's hieroglyphics, some of which you can find on the
cover of "undersound" I & II.
[TH]
The end of the word < Birth >
The end of the word < Breath >
The end of the word < Death >
All these words refer to the beginning and the end of a journey
in time, not in domain. Where we are now as people on this, the
third planet from the sun, is for now considering the means of
current transportation fixed.
The only vehicle left to speak of is time itself, which for most of us
stands fixed in the total scheme of life endeavours. "Th" is the birth
and death of a breath, we are reaching out to "TH" of future.
