A new side of Anthony Braxton performing a double CD of four improvised
pieces with the piano player Walter Franks. As Stuart Broomer writes in his
notes: "On first hearing, this is music that seems out of time: often it's
rubato and its harmonic materials - - frequently scalar - - sometimes seem
tightly focused on the French impressionist school of the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. These free dialogues allow Braxton and Franks to create
extraordinarily well-developed, rhapsodic compositions..."
