The trio Dempa takes its name from the Japanese word "electrical wave."The
title of the CD "Nine Fragments" refers to the nine compositions heard here.
As Stuart Broomer writes, each piece is structurally elusive, each perhaps a
part of something larger, the sonic world that is born and embraced in the
music of this trio. The boundaries of this group are unknowable. Apart from
their main instruments, all three players employ live electronics. This is a
totally new departure for Aki Takase.
